Smart Organization

Hello, all! As I prepare to go out on my own this August, I have been experimenting with different organizational techniques in my room at home. I have also been a Pinterest warrior, always browsing to siege the perfect storage solutions. While I haven’t gotten much done on my end, I did find a few cool tricks I plan to implement this Fall, in the places and the things I have the most trouble keeping straight. Here they are!

Urban Ballerina

While browsing Pinterest (per usual), I came across a photography series entitled “The Ballerina Project.”  Photographed by artist Dane Shitagi, “The Ballerina Project” depicts ballet dancers in places other than at the bar or in the studio. The photos are absolutely breathtaking and the concept is so unique.

The ballerinas are shown in a variety of settings, but my favorite has to be the city. A ballerina is thought of to be delicate, demure. A city definitely is not. The serenity of the dancer with the hustle and bustle of the city as her backdrop creates an incredibly interesting composition.

These photographs decided a new style I would like to try: urban ballerina. Here are a few looks and inexpensive pieces that I think emulate this look:

I am definitely going to be on the lookout for pieces that could recreate these styles! Any looks you want to try out this spring/summer?

Have a great day 🙂

First Apartment DIY

I’m moving out on my own for the first time this August and I’m beyond excited (nervous, too). One of my favorite things to do lately is to browse interior design blogs (Apartment Therapy is a great one) and Pinterest to find great decorating ideas that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. Tuition already has that job!

Anyway, here are some cool DIY decorating ideas I’ve stumbled across over the past week! Just click the picture to the link to the blog with directions! 🙂

Happy decorating!

Festival Fashion Fun

Last year, I found myself at the last day of Lollapalooza in Chicago and it was a blast! One of my favorite parts (besides the amazing lineup) was the ambience of it all. There’s something so cool about an open field just waiting to be flooded with people to enjoy a great musical performance.

The fashion of the festival was also super cool. And this spring/summer, these “festival” styles seem to be making way to the racks, too. Here are a few of my favorite “festival” pieces & looks:

Headscarves

Super cute and hippie chic! Love them! They can pull together an outfit completely!

Faded Boyfriend Shorts

These give an effortless, breezy vibe. Super comfy, too!

Crop Tops

Keep you cool and look so beachy.

Layered Bracelets

There’s something so nostalgic and summery about friendship bracelets. Layer them with gold or silver jewelry to make them more grown up.

I didn’t save up enough for Lolla this year, unfortunately. 😦 Are any of you attending any cool festivals? Lemme know!

Take care,

Molly

Cheap Thrills: Makeup from Target

Anyone who knows me is aware of my unhealthy relationship with Target. I am obsessed with it. In fact, it got to the point where a cashier there had noticed my absence and asked me where I had been! Oh my!

It is undeniable, however, that Target offers a large range of products that won’t break the bank. Recently, I have been trying to cut down on cosmetic expenses. I work at Sephora, so it is quite tempting to blow a ton of money on makeup, but I have found a few drugstore products that wear just as well as any high end products! Here are my recent discoveries:

1. Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in “Carbon Black 01”

It’s allergy season, which means my eyes are not in the mood for wearing eye makeup. Mascara has become a great foe, but luckily I have found this Neutrogena Mascara, which is hypoallergenic. It separates my lashes, is really dark,  doesn’t clump, and is super volumizing! Love it!

2. Loreal Trumatch Foundation in “Nude BeigeW3”

I have been having the worst time trying to find a foundation that works for my combination skin. This one’s oil free, blends really well, and only around $8.00! It applies much easier with a primer (I’m using Benefit’s “The Porefessional), but works on its own, too.

3. ELF Blush in “Tickled Pink”

Love, love, love this blush! The color, which is a light pink with a hint of shimmer, is perfect for spring. The pigmentation is amazing and it’s very easy to blend. And get this, it is only $3. I will definitely be purchasing more ELF blushes! Very pleasantly surprised.

Do any of you know of any cheap cosmetics that really deliver? Let me know, I’m still trying to find a less expensive face primer. Thanks 🙂

Take care,

Molly
